Livermore Public Library – Literacy Volunteer Training

Credit:

Can you see yourself teaming up with an adult to work on their basic reading, writing or conversation skills? Are you interested in meeting new people and making a positive contribution to our community? If so, become a literacy volunteer and help adults become more confident and better able to navigate everyday situations. Volunteers have the option of meeting one-to-one or with small groups. An effective volunteer is respectful, patient and encouraging. No previous experience is necessary. After successfully completing training, volunteers are teamed with adults and typically meet once or twice a week for one to two hours each meeting. You’ll likely be amazed at what you learn. The next three-part volunteer training will take place on the following dates from 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at the Livermore Public Library Civic Center, 1188 S. Livermore Ave., Livermore, CA (please note – participants attend all three sessions): Monday, October 6, 2025 Wednesday, October 8, 2025 Monday, October 13, 2025 For more information or to sign-up to become a volunteer, please visit the Literacy Office at the Livermore Public Library Civic Center, email literacy@livermoreca.gov or call 925-373-5507.
