Big Brother and The Holding Company

Legendary psychedelic rock band behind the canonical album “Cheap Thrills,” and icons of the San Francisco 1960s music scene. Big Brother & The Holding Company is considered one of the original, great psychedelic bands that came out of San Francisco in the summer of 1965. Originally a four-man ensemble, they headlined some of the first acid-fueled dance concerts that defined the era. But it wasn’t until Chet Helms convinced fellow Texan, JANIS JOPLIN, to come out to San Francisco that the band was complete, and music history changed forever. With Janis on lead vocals, Big Brother blew open the collective mind of the legendary Monterey Pop Festival of 1967 and rose to the top of the rock music hierarchy, quickly followed by their legendary #1 hit album, “Cheap Thrills.” For decades, Big Brother and the Holding has toured continuously in the US, Canada, Europe and Asia. Today, the two surviving original members, Peter Albin and Dave Getz, are joined by Darby Gould (Jefferson Starship), Tom Finch, and David Aguilar. See them live at Almost Famous Wine Lounge, an award-winning tasting room and world-class music venue located in the heart of Livermore’s urban wine, spirits and brewery district.
